Finally, after years in darknes and dispair
Microsoft is developing a new and improved BizTalk version. While reading about the Upcomming release of AppFabric 20th. of May, somebody slipped in a very important message:
BizTalk Server — Microsoft’s integration server — also is slated for a refresh this year, in the form of BizTalk Server 2010. That release will add support for Windows Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 R2 and Visual Studio 2010, plus a handful of other updates. Company officials have said Microsoft also is working on a new “major” version of BizTalk, which it is calling BizTalk Server vNext. This release will be built on top of Microsoft’s Windows AppFabric platform. So far, the Softies have not provided a release target for BizTalk Server vNext.

BizTalk 2004 was great and somewhat an integration product revolution...in 2004 ! And from my point of view it has been patches and minor improvements from there on. The fact that BizTalk in its current version is still selling is a testement to the quality of the 2004 product vision.
Oh boy, am I looking forward to a new and improved version. Stay tuned, I'll try to post everything I can possible obtain about BizTalk vNext ;)
